Wadokai Seminar 2011 ![]() Group portrait from Saturday training A three-day seminar was held in the Didsbury campus MMU sports centre over the weekend of 11 - 13 March 2011. Karateka from all over England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Hungary and Germany came to train together and enjoy the expert instruction of Shimura sensei and Katsube sensei, both 7th Dan teachers visiting from Tokyo. We are extremely grateful for the support shown by all the participants from many different karate groups who participated which included: ![]() Katsube sensei supervising Naihanchi practice Wadokai Karate Federation Aiwakai Karatedo Federation Scottish Karate Federation Walton Karate Club Wado Karate Union Keady Karate Club Ireland Wadokai Training covered the three core aspects of kihon, kata and kumite. The sensei stressed they wanted to teach exactly as they train in their home dojo under Arakawa Toru sensei. Seminar participants were treated to the most precise and detailed instruction of how to perform the techniques, under the guidance of these two outstanding exponents of Wadokai karate-do. We also appreciate the assistance provided by Sakagami sensei as well as the excellent translation provided by Mitsuko, Mika and Ritsuko over the course of the weekend. Last but by no means least, our thanks to Ohgami sensei for his support and assistance in helping with our arrangements. After the event, everyone contributed to a collection toward the relief fund to help the people displaced by last weeks Tsunami. In total, £125.00 was raised after the Sunday practice was over.
